Aston Villa’s undefeated start to the season came to an end with a 0-4 home defeat to Arsenal at Villa Park.

Carla Ward’s Aston Villa frustrated the Gunners in the opening period, coming in at half-time at 0-0.

Early in the second-half Kim Little opened the scoring for Arsenal before Iwabuchi and MaCabe finished any hopes of Villa getting back into the game with two goals inside the final ten minutes, Little then added her second in injury-time.

Let’s see how Adam Reapa rated the performance of our women in Claret and Blue.

STARTING LINE-UP

Hannah Hampton – 9

Made some fantastic saves that kept Villa in the game, as well as showing an excellent reading of the game by closing down Arsenal’s attackers quickly from her line.

Will be upset about 3rd goal but was fantastic throughout.

Olivia McLoughlin – 7

Did what she could up against a strong Arsenal attack.

Liv always gives you 100% and tried to hold up the Arsenal’s attacks.

Meaghan Sergeant – 8.5

I think you can almost say before the game Meaghan will be a 7.5+ player on work rate alone, always gives the defence a team a lift.

Anita Asante – 8

Anita always tracks and reads the game so well.

Against a Arsenal attack Anita had to be on form to make some important blocks.

Elisha N’Dow – 8.5

Solid at the back, you know Elisha will always put her body on the line for the team and tracking back to make sure that Arsenal had to work hard.

Maz Pacheco – 8

Cheeky Maz with her cheeky skill, picked up a yellow card for all her efforts. Always gives everything on the pitch.

In association with #HerGameToo

Chloe Arthur – 8.5

Chloe Arthur was fantastic in this game, made herself a real pain for the Arsenal players with her constant pressure and won Villa fair few free kicks to relieve the pressure.

Remi Allen – 8

Remi will always push and push the team as a leader on and off the pitch.

You will always get a full heart and soul performance and today was no different.

Alisha Lehmann – 7

Couldn’t really get going, had one break that didn’t come to much, and spent most of game trying to help Maz out at the back.

Ramona Petzelberger – 8.5

Like Chloe Arthur, she was a constant in the middle of the pitch and dropped back to help the defence throughout the game.

Was fouled a lot trying to stop the Arsenal pressure.

Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah – 8

Was trying throughout the game to turn defence into attack and also trying to relieve the pressure that was being put on during the game.

Substitutions:

Shania Hayles (on for Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, 58th minute) – 7

Shania will always give you so much running and chances to break out the defence, but didnt have much service tonight.

Gemma Davison (on for Alisha Davison, 80th minute) – 6.5

Came on for the final 10 mins but didn’t really leave any kind of mark on the game with the ball being in solely in Villa’s half.

OPPOSITION

Arsenal Women: Zinsberger, Maanum (Iwabuchi 45′), Beattie, Maritz, Wubben-Moy (Williamson 74′), Catley, Wälti, Little, Mead (McCabe 74′), Parris (Heath 63′), Miedema (Foord 63′)

Subs: Heath, Nobbs, Williamson, Patten, Schnaderbeck, Williams, McCabe, Foord, Iwabuchi
