After an international break, the WSL cranks up the heat and current champions Chelsea fly high to the top of the table.

Everton 1-2 Manchester City
A thrilling game at Walton Hall Park as Julie Blakstad (32) claimed the first goal of the match for Manchester City after good work from Khadja Shaw.
Everton responded eight minutes later as Rikke Sevecke (40) headed home to level.
After her assist, Khadija Shaw (49) tapped in after Laura Coombs’ long-range shot struck the post and bounced into her path.
Everton remains winless against City and sit eighth in the WSL with nine points; Manchester City remains fourth with fifteen points.
Arsenal 2-3 Manchester United
Manchester United ended Arsenal’s undefeated start to the season with a late comeback in extra time in front of 40,000+ fans at the Emirates Stadium.
Manchester United’s Ella Toone (39) scored the game’s opening goal, but Arsenal equalised after Frida Maanum’s (46) effort deflected off Maya Le Tissier and Laura Wienroither completed Arsenal comeback with a strike on 73 minutes.
However, headers by Millie Turner (85) and Alesia Russo (90+1 ) sealed a dramtic win for Manchester United.
Arsenal falls to second place with eighteen points, with Manchester United close behind on equal points.
Chelsea 3-0 Tottenham Hotspur
Emma Hayes was back on the side lines for this London derby at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea’s Sam Kerr (12), Erin Cuthbert (26) – (who has also extended her contract until 2025), and Guro Reiten (36) score as the Blues control the game and take the well-deserved win in front of 38,300 fans.
The win puts Chelsea top of the WSL table with twenty-one points, while Tottenham drop to seventh on nine points.
Brighton 3-3 Liverpool
Missy Bo Kearns (17) opened the scoring for Liverpool, but Brighton came back shortly after claiming three goals in 13 minutes: Elizabeth Terland (21) Danielle Carter (26) and Katie Robinson (34).
In the second half, Liverpool’s van de Sanden (76) and Rachel Furness (90+2) completed the spirited comeback against hosts Brighton.
In the Women’s Super League standings, Brighton is tenth with seven points while Liverpool is slightly below with four.
Aston Villa 3-1 Reading | Georgia Homer
West Ham United 1-0 Leicester City
West Ham United secured three points at home after what appeared to be a goalless contest until a late Izzy Atkinson (88) goal.
Leicester City missed their chance to equalise when Ashleigh Plumptre took a shot, but the goal was ruled out after hitting an offside teammate.
West Ham move up to sixth position with twelve points and Leicester City remain pointless and bottom of the WSL.Β
