Not for the first time since we started this feature – Finn Azaz claims Star Player for his winning goal and assist in Newport County’s win at Port Vale.

Let’s see how all our Claret and Blue loan stars performed this weekend.

*STAR PLAYER

Finn Azaz (Newport County)

Port Vale 1-2 Newport County

League Two Young Player of the Season Finn Azaz scored the winner for Newport in their 1-2 away win at Port Vale.

Within 3-minutes Azaz’s low cross across the box assisted the opener for Haynes.

Finn Azaz then sealed the 3 points; slamming home a fierce strike past Stone after Matt Dolan’s right-sided corner was only half-cleared.

PREMIER LEAGUE

Matt Targett (Newcastle United)

Newcastle United 0-1 Liverpool

Matty Targett had to work hard in this one against the Premier League title challengers as his side was pinned back for much of the contest.

Matty Targett put in a consistent performance at left-back, battling well against Mane, Salah and co.

Anwar El Ghazi (Everton)

*Not in Matchday Squad ❌️

CHAMPIONSHIP

Keinan Davis (Nottingham Forest)

*Injured 🩹

Cameron Archer (Preston)

Barnsley 1-3 Preston

Cameron Archer had a quiet game but it wasn’t for the lack of trying, he put in plenty of effort and nearly got himself an assist; He chased the ball down and squared the ball beautifully for Riis in the box, but the shot was saved.

With his side leading by three goals to one, Cameron Archer was substituted in the 79th minute.

Jaden Philogene-Bidace (Stoke City)

Middlesbrough 3-1 Stoke City

It was Jaden Philogene-Bidace’s first start in a couple of months following his injury.

Unfortunately, JPB would be sacrificed as part of a half-time double substitution with his side trailing 2-0.

Conor Hourihane (Sheffield United)

QPR 1-3 Sheffield United

Conor Hourihane started on the bench for Sheffied United and was introduced to the contest in the latter stages of the game, in fact in normal circumstances you would say, “What is the point in bringing him on in the 93rd minute?!” Well… With his side leading by 2 goals to 1, Conor Hourihane’s first touch was a magical one, as he smashed a volley in the back of the net to make sure his side took all three points.

The win ensured Sheffield United’s bid for a Championship play-off place will remain in their hands going into the final day.

Jed Steer (Luton Town)

*Injured 🩹

LEAGUE ONE

Kaine Kesler-Hayden (MK Dons)

Plymouth Argyle 0-5 MK Dons

Kesler-Hayden would help Milton Keynes Dons finish third in League one, with this mauling against Plymouth away at Home Park.

Kaine would put in a terrific performance, using his speed to cause problems for the opposition. He passed the ball well and enjoyed the full 90′ minutes.

The Don’s will travel to Wycombe on Thursday, 5th of May in the first leg of the play-offs.

Aaron Ramsey (Cheltenham Town)

Cambridge United 2-2 Cheltenham Town

Aaron Ramsey would start as a sub again, after coming off the bench in the last one against Bolton and scoring a late consolation goal.

With his side trailing by two goals to one, Ramsey was introduced in the 73rd minute.

Ramsey would help his side get that last ditch equaliser, as in-form striker Alfie May scored in stoppage time.

LEAGUE TWO

Louie Barry (Swindon Town)

Swindon Town 2-1 Barrow

Swindon surged into the League Two play-off positions as a late winner earned them a 2-1 win over Barrow. A third straight victory for The Robins, saw them move into the top seven with one game to go.

Louie Barry looked lively on the left-wing as he tormented the away opposition, although his finishing was having a off-day, squandering a couple of sights on goal.

Barry completed the 90-minutes in this important win at The County Ground.

Tyreik Wright (Colchester United)

Colchester United 2-2 Walsall

The teams were level, at 2-2 when Wright was introduced in the 81st minute. Wright was unable to help his side get the winner, in the short time he was on the pitch.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Arjan Raikhy (Grimsby Town)

*Injured 🩹

NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH

Seb Revan (Hereford FC)

Spennymoor Town 1-0 Hereford

Seb Revan came close to giving Hereford that important lead but his shot smashed against the post early in the second half. Spennymoor would grab their goal and hold on for the win.

Hereford 2-2 Brackley Town (Bank Holiday Monday)

Seb Raven would start again, just a couple of days after the away day at Spennymoor Town. This time on home soil, The Bull’s found themselves trailing by two goals to nil at half-time. Revan would help his side pull off a big comeback. 2-2.

Filip Marschall (Gateshead FC)

Gateshead 3-1 Southport

Filip Marschall had a solid game, although he did concede a first half goal as Southport tried to get back into the game, having being two goals down.

Gateshead would push on and claim victory on home soil.

Chorley 2-2 Gateshead (Bank Holiday Monday)

Gateshead are back in the Vanarama National League after they secured the point they needed to win the northern division on a memorable day in Lancashire.

Filip Marschall gave a nervy first half display largely of his own doing.

Having got away with a foolish Cruyff-turn under pressure virtually on his goal-line the Aston Villa teenager almost pressed the self-destruct button again. Not for the first time caught well off his line, almost on the edge of the box, Urwin’s long clearance bounced over his head and just wide of the post.

Marschall improved in the second half and his side clinched the title.

SCOTTISH PREMIERSHIP

Caleb Chukwuemeka (Livingston)

*Not in Matchday Squad ❌️

REST OF THE WORLD

Frédéric Guilbert (Strasbourg)

Strasbourg 3-3 PSG

Strasbourg produced one of the great comebacks to secure a vital point against the French champions in their charge for European qualification. Two goals in the final 15 minutes earned Strasbourg a point in an enthralling 3-3 draw with Paris Saint-Germain at the Stade de la Meinau on Friday night.

Fred would be involved in this exciting game from the start and would put in a decent enough performance for the majority of the game. Guilbert would be replaced in the 82nd minute with his side trailing by three goals to two. He would celebrate with his teammates as his side got the important equaliser in stoppage time.

Trezeguet (Istanbul Başakşehir)

Kasimpasa 2-3 Istanbul Basaksehir

On Saturday, Istanbul Basaksehir’s quest for Champions League qualification continued with an away trip to Trezeguet’s former club, Kasimpasa.

Mo Salah’s mentor, Trezeguet bagged himself a goal and an assist in this thrilling encounter away from home.

The 27-year-old has hit the ground running since returning to Turkey, scoring five goals and providing two assists in eight games.

Lovre Kalinic (HNK Hajduk Split)

HNK Hajduk Split 2-1 Hrvatski Dragovoljac

Lovre Kalinic would captain his side to a 2-1 win that would keep their title push momentum going.

Kalinic was solid enough in between the sticks, although he conceded from the opposition, he snuffed any chance of an equaliser happening.

Hajduk Split are second in the league, 4 points behind current leaders Dinamo Zagreb.

Wesley (SC Internacional)

SC Internacional 0-0 Avai

The #HerGameToo team are made up of twelve football fans that represent an array of teams across the country, including some that work in the industry who have experienced some sexism in their everyday work. They actively encourage people to speak out about their experiences, whether it be to #HerGameToo, friends or family, or the football clubs involved. We must acknowledge that football has come a long way from the issues that existed historically, however there is still a long way to go.

#HerGameToo are doing great work on understanding and removing misogyny in the men’s game, and are continuing to develop their campaign to make it the most inclusive and accessible it can be. Elevating hard-hitting stories, data and new voices is helping to spread their message loud and clear.
