Aston Villa beat Bournemouth 3-0 in the Premier League at Villa Park on Saturday with goals from Douglas Luiz, Jacob Ramsey, and Emiliano Buendia.

Let’s hear the fans’ post-match thoughts about the players’ individual performances.

EMILIANO MARTINEZ – 7

Really easy day at the office, Bournemouth offered very little all afternoon. Distribution was much better and produced a superb to deny a Billing free kick in his only real action.”

– Gary Plaza

MATTY CASH – 9

A superb display from the ‘Polish Cafu’ out there this afternoon. Up against a tricky Jaidon Anthony down the Bournemouth left, but Villa’s No.2 dealt with him well, putting in a host of good challenges and clearing the danger on a number of occasions to help maintain that clean sheet. His form of late has been superb and will be giving head coach Unai Emery a massive headache heading into the summer.”

– Liam Davies

TYRONE MINGS – 9.5

“Mings’ lack of composure in front of goal cost him 0.5 of a mark! Jokes aside, what a colossal performance from the centre-half. Mings made a superb recovering challenge to deny Solanke the opportunity to equalize before assisting Emi Buendia to seal the victory on 89 minutes!”

– Ryan Mckeown

EZRI KONSA – 8

Not just a clean sheet but an overall good performance from Konsa. Made a few good interceptions and clearances, tucking in and helping Cash out when necessary. Thought he’d scored in the final 10 minutes but just missed out on a goal contribution. Solid.”

– Hannah Gowen

ALEX MORENO – 6.5

Looks to be settled now with the pace of the league and looks a real talent going forwards but is left out of position defensively too often. Better teams will punish that.”

– Gary Plaza

* DOUGLAS LUIZ – 10

“How lucky are we to have this man? Assured, composed and full of quality. Every Villa fan worried how our midfield would cope without the injured Boubacar Kamara, but Luiz – alongside John McGinn – has picked up the baton and shown just how crucial he is to the side. The Brazilian’s goal was taken well, firing home Leon Bailey’s cutback in the 6th minute, but the No.6’s general work in the midfield and ability on the ball was the key takeaway from his performance. Terrific”.

– Liam Davies

JACOB RAMSEY – 9

“A much needed performance from Jacob Ramsey: welcome back. This is the Jacob Ramsey we need to see on a consistent basis because, in full flow, he’s a delightful watch! Ramsey got his well deserved goal infront of the Holte End after two attempts in the first-half, one that was well saved by defender Jack Stephens with VAR failing to intervene! Keep it up, JJ.

– Ryan Mckeown

JOHN MCGINN – 8.5

Ginny is back to his best. He might not be on the scoresheet again this week but he absolutely donned the midfield alongside his similarly excellent colleague, Luiz. Winning everything in the middle of the park and linking up play, I thought he was excellent.”

– Hannah Gowen

Replaced by Chambers on 91 minutes: N/A

EMILIANO BUENDIA – 8

“Though he was a little loose in possession, particularly in the first half, we again saw a lot of the great sides of Buendia’s game against Bournemouth. He was busy, tenacious and topped his day off with a goal – great to keep his tally adding up.”

– Hannah Gowen

Replaced by Duran on 91 minutes: N/A

LEON BAILEY – 6.5

“A bit of a topsy-turvy display from Villa’s No.31 today. On occasions, the Jamaican showed really quality – especially to pick out Luiz for the opening goal – but he appears to be lacking confidence. An inability to get at his opponents and beat his man left some in attendance frustrated by the 25-year-old’s performance. Regardless, it’s two successive starts for Bailey and the former Leverkusen man will look to re-find form after the international break.”

– Liam Davies

Replaced by Traore on 65 minutes: “A solid display from Villa’s No.9 who replaced Leon Bailey in the 65th minute. Traore had a couple of chances to bag his first goal of the season for Villa, but for a couple of vital blocks at the back from Bournemouth. The former Basaksehir loanee was wasteful at times but will be breathing down Leon Bailey’s neck for a start on the Villa right, following the international break.”

OLLIE WATKINS – 7.5

“Left his shooting boots at home today. Found himself in numerous good positions but failed to find the net. Confidence is growing game by game and we all know he will be disappointed however we all know he will look to make amends next game.”

– Gary Plaza
