WHAT A DAY TO BE A VILLA FAN !!!
A stunning win at Old Trafford, coming off the back of some promising performances without getting the results we deserve, to get the win against Utd feels like a real watershed moment for Dean Smith’s new-look Aston Villa.
Every single one of them was magnificent today. And to top the day off they missed the penalty right at the death.
STARTING LINE-UP
Formation 4-2-3-1
Emi Martinez – 9
Man Utd had a lot of attempts today but truthfully none troubled the big Argentinian to in goal, he’s quickly become a cult hero at Villa, his little dance after Fernandez missed penalty was a sight to behold.
Matty Cash – 9
Really starting to revel in the right wing-back role, the added attacking responsibility he’s getting with having 3 CBs to cover has seen his performances of late just improve no end.
Ezri Konsa – 9
Another superb performance from the young centre half, always looks calm and assured and doesn’t mind doing the dirty work either.
Tyrone Mings – 9
What can you say about our leader, he’s an absolute monster of a man and a player. Committed and commanding and a vocal colossus for us in every way.

Kortney Hause – 10
Almost became the forgotten man with the arrival of Tuenzebe in the summer, but on Wednesday night he showed just what he’s all about. And with Axel’s ineligibility today he stepped in and then some!
I genuinely can’t remember his last bad game! And to think he cost 3m from Wolves !!! simply outstanding and what a header
Matt Targett – 9
Has had an up and down start to the season but much like Cash on the right is now starting to revel in the new formation, will probably have been disappointed with his effort in the first half not to hit the Targett but was a very willing runner all game!
Douglas Luiz – 9
He’s starting to get going now, we are almost seeing the Luiz that was so good after the first lockdown, he will only keep improving as well!
John McGinn – 9
Great to see Meatball back after his concussion last week, the real driving force to our midfield. He’s just so infectious! A real shift today that helped dominate the Utd midfield
Jacob Ramsey – 9
I give up writing positives about the young lad, yet another start and yet another game where he looked at home, this time at Old Trafford !!

Danny Ings – 8
I feel a little sorry for Danny Ings, he’s running his legs off yet all the chances keep falling to Watkins. Seamed a little frustrated when he was once again the first to be subbed. His time will come again though and has a huge part to play in our season
Ollie Watkins – 9
It’s very difficult to criticise Ollie Watkins as he does so much that’s good and is critical to how we play regardless of the formation. I just hope he can improve on his finishing, the guilt edge chance he missed will haunt him tonight, luckily it didn’t cost us. Still put his usual shift in.
Substitutions:
Buendia for Ings 78th min – did well for the short time he was on 8
Archer for Ramsey 86th min – the young lads rise to prominence just keeps going, showed no nerves when he entered the pitch 8
Subs Not Used:
Subs not used: Steer, Bogarde, Traore, El Ghazi, Chukwuemeka, A.Young, Nakamba.
