Aston Villa played out a 1-1 draw with West Ham at the London Stadium this Sunday in the Premier League.

Let’s hear the fans’ post-match thoughts about the players’ individual performances.

EMILIANO MARTINEZ – 6.5

Struggled with the physicality of West Ham at set pieces. Seemed to effect his confidence to come and claim anything.

Great save from Benrahma early in the second half and another late on to deny Cornet, he was later flagged offside but Emi wasn’t to know.

– Gary Plaza

MATTY CASH – 5

Troubled by Benrahma early on, always looked half a yard behind. After looking back to somewhere near his best against Palace this was disappointing. Not one for the scrapbook.

– Ivan McDouall

Replaced by Ashley Young on 80 minutes: Superlative block to deny Benrahma. Served a purpose – just the man you want on the pitch to see out an away point. 7

TYRONE MINGS – 6.5

Distribution was poor today, always seemed to want additional time on the ball. Pressure from Bowen really unsettled him all game.

Could we soon see Carlos replace one of our CB’s? On today’s game it will be Mings who makes way.

– Gary Plaza

EZRI KONSA – 7

A composed performance from Konsa, did everything well.

– Ryan Mckeown

ALEX MORENO – 7

As with Cash, troubled by his opposite number early on but a solid outlet going forward. Saw a lot of the ball and on point ball for Ollie to score and continued to link up well. Highly involved in chance on 42 when his striker should have made it 2-1. As game settled down in second half struggled to be overly involved.

– Ivan McDouall

Replaced by Lucas Digne on 64 minutes: Showed the difference between him and Moreno by keeping Bowen quiet for last half hour. 6

DOUGLAS LUIZ – 7.5

Missed Kamara with him today but still ran the game. He is so important to how Emery wants us playing. Every build up goes through Luiz.

Controlled the tempo and the midfield. One of the most important players we have now.

– Gary Plaza

JACOB RAMSEY – 6

First quarter summed up by McGinn telling him to calm down. Grew into the gane and should have notched an assist on 42 only for Watkins to gift Areola an easy save. Drifted again in second half – seems to be struggling for genuine impact.

– Ivan McDouall

JOHN MCGINN – 7.5

Scarified from his role on the right-side of midfield to slot in next to Douglas Luiz in the double pivot.

The shift of position did not affect McGinn’s form as he delivered a Captain’s performance in the middle of the park.

– Ryan Mckeown

Replaced by Jhon Duran on 80 minutes: Another lively cameo from the youngster. 6

EMILIANO BUENDIA – 6.5

Buendia was fired up / frustrated from the off today, he gave Moreno a roasting early on, and was lucky to escape a yellow on numerous occasions for slamming the ball away in frustration.

Involved in a contentious clash with Rice in the West Ham box but his strong penalty claims were turned away.

– Ryan Mckeown

LEON BAILEY – 6

Can’t really hold the penalty against him. Yes his positioning was clumsy at best but for me it was a clear dive following the slightest of contact.

Struggled for a while following the penalty to get into the game but his influence grew as the game continued. Great cross in for Watkins who was brilliantly bloked by Zouma.

Struggled to get involved in the second half and was replaced.

– Gary Plaza

Replaced by Bertrand Traore on 64 minutes: Glimpses of talent they’re just no end product. I’ll put today’s errors on lack of game time. Both Traore and Bailey need to massively improve to be around next season. 6.

OLLIE WATKINS – 7

6 in 7. 4 in 4 away. Firing. But, oh, what a chance just before half time. It’s a given how hard he works. Replaced by Chambers as Villa shut up shop.

– Ivan McDouall

Replaced by Calum Chambers on 85 minutes: N/A.
