Who is available in the upcoming game between Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, and who does Liam think will start? Found out in this week’s edition of team news & predicted line-up.
ASTON VILLA TEAM NEWS
Steven Gerrard has confirmed that full-back Matty Cash will be available for a return to The City Ground. The Polish defender missed previous fixtures against Southampton and Leeds United after picking up an injury in the 1-1 draw with Manchester City last month. Aston Villa released a fitness update stating: “Cash is back in full training and available for selection on Monday night following his hamstring injury.”
An update was also given on Calum Chambers who missed the visit to Elland Road through injury too. The club said: “Chambers completed half a session on Thursday and will continue to pick training up from now until Monday”. The former Arsenal defender is expected to make the trip to the East-Midlands.
Leon Bailey’s situation was also addressed and AVFC said: “Bailey is a doubt for the trip to The City Ground on Monday with a small muscle issue, but he isn’t ruled out.” Argentine play-maker Emiliano BuendΓa is expected to come into the side if the number 31 is absent.
Steven Gerrard revealed that Ludwig Augustinsson will spend time on the sidelines, he said: βLudwig will be out for probably around three weeks.” The Swedish left-back is believably out with a hamstring issue.
NOTTINGHAM FOREST TEAM NEWS
Moussa NiakhatΓ© will be absent for Monday’s home fixture. The Senegalese defender was one of many to join Forest over the summer and started both of the opening two fixtures of the season. The 26 year-old picked up a hamstring injury however, and Head Coach Steve Cooper revealed that: “He will be out for a few months. We had to do another scan late in the week. It is a blow for him [and us] because he has settled in really well.”
Also unavailable is full-back Omar Richards. The former Reading and Bayern Munich defender has yet to make his Nottingham Forest debut following a hairline fracture of the leg, but is reportedly making ‘good progress’ in his rehabilitation process. Cooper said: “He is not with us yet, but we are close to the final stages of his rehab. It is still weeks rather than days, but we are really happy with his commitment.”
