Hello and welcome to the WSL Weekly. The WSL had two games postponed and one match abandoned last week! Let’s catch up on the games that took place and look aheadΒ toΒ game week twelve.


MANCHESTER CITY 1-1 ASTON VILLA

WSL FAN REPORT | MANCESTER CITY 1-1 ASTON VILLA – (utvpodcast.co.uk)

EVERTON 3-0 WEST HAM UNITED

Everton move up the table following a convincing victory at home. Karen Holmgaard scored the game’s opening goal within three minutes.

On 12 minutes Megan Finnigan, doubled Everton’s lead after capitalising from a well worked and inventive corner. 

Dominating the game, Everton denied guests West Ham any goal scoring opportunities to get back in the game before substitute Aggie Beaver-Jones hammered the third goal and secured Everton’s victory! 

Everton move up to fifth in the WSL table, West Ham remain in seventh.

READING 0-1 MANCHESTER UNITED

Substitute Rachel Williams scored a fantastic solo goal late into the game to send Manchester United to the top of the Women’s Super League after Katie Zelem missed her opportunity to score from a penalty: confidently saved by Jacqueline Burns

Manchester United currently positioned top of the Women’s Super League table are twenty-one points ahead of hosts Reading who sit tenth in the table with seven points.

CHELSEA VS LIVERPOOL: MATCH ABANDONED

After Erin Cuthbert had a heavy fall due to the frozen, icy ground, referee Neil Hair judged the match unfit to continue.

“The game should never have started. We have to put player safety first,” said Chelsea manager Emma Hayes.

TOTTENHAM VS LEICESTER CITY: POSTPONED

Due to a frozen pitch this match has been postponed.

BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION VS ARSENAL: POSTPONED

Due to a frozen pitch this match has been postponed.
