The first weekend of the 2022/23 Premier League season has arrived, and Aston Villa’s first test will be away at the Vitality Stadium against newly promoted Bournemouth.

For those marking the trip to The Vitality Stadium, check out our helpful guide on what to expect – other than the three points of course!

Thank you to @utciadafcb and @REECE_AV for their contributions in putting this guide together.

ADVICE FOR TRAVELLING FANS @utciadafcb

What to expect?

Dean Court, or known now as The Vitality Stadium for sponsorship reasons, is the smallest ground in the Premier League. Holding little over 11,000, it is a quaint but friendly little ground. The Cherries faithful are a good bunch who make everyone feel welcome. Within the ground you will find from wherever you are sat the view is perfect and you will be close to the action wherever you are sat. There isn’t a bad seat! On the pitch the Cherries have come a long way since the days of Minus 17 which you will hear us sing about continuously and we now have an exciting squad of young talented players who will look to upset the odds.

Advice for travelling fans?

Just off the Wessex Way within Boscombe the ground is very accessible but always allow a bit of time as the journey into Bournemouth can be a bit of nightmare (especially the A31 which is a horrible bit of road and with regular works). Parking at the ground is cheap but the car park understandably gets full quickly. Alternatively there is parking nearby at the Sovereign Centre which again is quite cheap to park at. The ground is cashless now so make sure you have a card on you!

Away fans’ pubs?

There isn’t any designated away fan pubs but there are plenty of good bars in Southbourne if you are arriving by train (the main station is Pokesdown for Boscome). Most popular is the Brewhouse and Kitchen but there are other options within a minute of the station and it isn’t a long walk to the stadium from there. Closer to the ground a lot of the pubs are Home Supporters Only including outside the Club Shop, The Great Escape and the main pub on the road adjacent to Dean Court.

VILLA FANS PRESPECTIVE – @REECE_AV

Great trip down South. Small ground but a decent atmosphere. Small allocation so you get your faithful there as well.

THE OPPOSITION

Aston Villa’s successful pre season campaign comes to an end as they open their Premier League campaign against newly promoted Bournemouth.

I caught up with @CherriesTalking to hear their thoughts ahead of the new season.
