Louie Barry continued his red-hot scoring form with a brace on Saturday against Grimsby Town, but suffered an injury setback on Tuesday night and had to leave the game after only 22 minutes.

Kaine Kesler-Hayden, Finn Azaz, and Morgan Sanson all started for their respective clubs over the weekend. Viljami Sinisalo was in action on Saturday and Tuesday nights.

Seb Revan and Rotherham United did not play on Friday night because their game against Ipswich Town was postponed due to flooding. After heavy rain, the River Don, which runs near to New York Stadium, breached its banks on Friday afternoon.

*STAR MAN | LOUIE BARRY (AGAIN)

Louie Barry was named Man of the Match and added to his Stockport County score-tally with a brace against Grimsby Town in a 3-2 victory on Saturday.

Louie Barry’s double keeps County on top

Louie Barry opened the scoring after just six minutes. Barry stepped up to take the penalty after teammate Will Collar was pulled down in the box. Barry converted with ease.

It seemed Stockport had thrown away a two-goal lead when they allowed Grimsby back in the game, and the team’s were level with two-a-piece after 52 minutes.

Stockport restored their lead in the 74th minute when Collar nodded a free-kick across the goal for Barry to score the winner! (All of the goals may be found in the YouTube video at the bottom of this post.)

Barry had 4 shots, 3 of which were successful (including his double). He completed two key passes with his 31 touches, for a 75% passing accuracy rate. Before being removed from the game in the 79th minute – WHOSCORED RATING: 8.7

Louie Barry looked set to continue his fine form on Tuesday night, away at fifth place Crewe.

Louie Barry suffered a major setback after just 22′ minutes. Barry pulled up in agony while on a trademark dash and had to be stretchered off. Up until Barry’s unfortunate injury, Barry had touched the ball nine times and had 100% passing accuracy.

The Hatters would go on to win the game 0-2 and retain the top spot in League Two.

Let’s hope Barry’s injury isn’t as bad as it seemed.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Kaine Kesler-Hayden played the full ninety for Plymouth Argyle away at The Hawthorns on Saturday and put in a decent performance at right-back.

Kesler-Hayden came close to breaking the deadlock at the back end of the first half when his left-footed shot was saved by the opposing keeper, Palmer.

Kaine had an outstanding 63 touches and a passing accuracy of 84.4%. He also won three aerial duels. He received a yellow card in the 86th minute – WHOSCORED RATING: 6.7

Finn Azaz joined Kesler-Hayden in the starting lineup for The Pilgrims against his former side, West Brom.

Finn Azaz tried to break the opposing defence with a couple of tasty through balls in the first half, only for his teammates to be caught offside on both occasions. Azaz also had a shot blocked.

Azaz touched the ball 57 times and had a passing accuracy of 82.5%. He also received a booking. – WHOSCORED RATING: 6.5

Plymouth Argyle held West Brom to a goalless draw.

LEAGUE ONE

Viljami Sinisalo and Exeter City suffered two back-to-back 2-0 defeats on Saturday and Tuesday night in League One.

The first 2-0 defeat came at home to Wigan Athletic.

Sinisalo conceded the opener in the 8th minute from 10-yards after his defence failed to stop the opposition’s attack. His side had plenty of possession afterwards and created a high number of chances, but the game was put to bed in stoppage time. An unfortunate deflected shot squeezed into his near post. – WHOSCORED RATING: 5.6

The second 2-0 defeat came on their travels, away at Derby County.

Exeter were under the cosh as Derby pushed them back from the first whistle. Although Exeter fought back, it was Derby who scored first; Mendez-Laing fired home from 12 yards on the half-hour mark and gave Sinisalo no chance.

Derby were dominant, and Exeter hardly had a sniff. The Rams had 26 shots on goal; 8 were on target.. Sinisalo tried his best to keep the score low. Méndez-Laing couldn’t beat Sinisalo again. He had a couple of more chances, which Sinisalo kept out. A shot to the right, in which the shotstopper got down well and again late on In between, though, Derby added their second in the 79th minute – WHOSCORED RATING: 6.4

Exeter have now suffered six-straight defeats and sit 18th in the table.

REST OF THE WORLD

Morgan Sanson began the contest at home to Marseille in the centre of midfield. Sanson had a solid game and had a passing accuracy of 80%.

Sanson had 39 touches and had 1 shot on goal, which was off target. With the game goalless, Sanson was withdrawn after 71′ minutes. – WHOSCORED RATING: 6.5

His side would go on to get the goal and win 1-0. Nice sit second in Ligue 1 and are the only team in the division without a defeat in 9 games.
