Exeter City have signed Aston Villa’s Finland goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo on a season-long loan.

Viljami Sinisalo becomes the second youth player to depart the club following Kaine Kesler-Hayden’s switch to to Plymouth Argyle earlier in the summer.

Sinisalo, who was loaned out to League One outfit Burton Albion last season (making four first-team appearances for the club), will look to gain valuable first-team experience and claim the number one jersey for the season.

The 21-year-old made his International debut for Finland against Estonia earlier this year having played for his country at youth levels.

He has yet to make a first-team appearance for Aston Villa, but made the bench on a number of occasions after returning from Burton as season drew to its conclusion; as well as Burton Albion, he also had a loan spell at Scottish side, Ayr United between the 2020-21 season.

In other development news, Tony Carss will take up the position of Emerging Talent Programme Manager – the role recently vacated by Mile Jedinak, with Inigo Idiakez being appointed as the new U21 coach.
