THE FPL DIARIES | THE BOYS IN CLARET AND BLUE SHINE!

Considering this FPL season is only three game weeks old, it has already been a turbulent season for my team.

It really has been a pendulum of good and bad, and fortunately for me this week, it has swung in my favour with a relatively good game week.

TEAM NEWS

Let’s start with the transfer business I did ahead of this week. The first substitute I made came in the form of a Nottingham Forest player. Morgan Gibbs-White replaced Pablo Fornals and immediately joined the starting eleven ahead of Pedro who hasn’t been as good as many managers have hoped. The decision went in my favour as Pedro came on as a late sub and Gibbs-White assisted.

In terms of captaincy, it was another week unchanged, however this week it was intentional. Haaland was facing a weak Sheffield United defence so it made sense to leave the double points with the Norwegian.

THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY

So, how did the team do this week? Well it was pretty much made by the midfield. It was the boys in claret and blue that shone for me this week as Villa’s Diaby and West Ham’s Bowen shared 12 points each. They both picked up a goal, a assist and two bonus points. Elsewhere, Gibbs-White rewarded my decision to put him in the team with a goal.

The defence was pretty poor this week with a high score of 2 coming from Robertson. Last week’s saviour Estupinan was particularly poor as he played a full ninety and conceded three. Finally, Emerson didn’t feature in Spurs’s 2-0 win against Bournemouth. Ramsdale only secured me a single point as Arsenal fumbled a lead thanks to a late equaliser.

Isak left a lot to be desired as he could only pick up 2 points. Haaland scored but also missed a penalty meaning that he’s captaincy wasn’t as impactful as normal.

THE BEST OF THE REST

Elsewhere, it was Wolves’ Jose Sa who was the best performing goalkeeper as he kept a clean sheet for Wooves’ first win of the season. Aston Villa’s Matty Cash was the best performing defender and second best player this week. He was pipped to the top spot by Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling.

It was Villa and Chelsea who lead the way this week in terms of FPL points. Both teams managed to find two players in the team of the week, both was a defender and a midfielder too! Chelsea’s Gusto and Sterling were joined by Villa’s Cash and Diaby.

OVERALL SUMMARY

Overall, I think this week has been fairly successful. I exceeded the average of 44 points by 8 with a big 52. Having said that, the result has ultimately left me 8th in the FPL Diaries League which could be better.
