MATTY CASH
One player who has benefitted most from the change in formation is Matty Cash, scoring an impressive rating average of 8.16 in September.
Cash also opened his Aston Villa goal scoring account with a thunderbolt finish against Everton and was a key figure in a defence that kept 2 clean sheets.
Closely following Cash with an average rating of 8.00, was Jacob Ramsey, Douglas Luiz and Ezri Konsa.
CASH ATTACK
Cash has been afforded the freedom to be more adventurous in attack with the cover of the 3 centre-backs and Douglas Luiz roaming in front of them, and it’s paying dividends!
Cash scored his first goal in Villa colours against Everton, he’s also created one Big Chance, which is already halfway to his total of 2 from the last campaign and his shots per game have also risen from 0.3 to 0.8, showing us how much his attacking contributions have improved this term.
Away from the Premier League, Cash registered an assist; delivering a superb ball for Cameron Archer to head home an equaliser away at Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.

A fantastic start from Cash. Showed his and Villa’s intent from the start by chasing down Alonso winning the throw-in and clattering the Chelsea man in the process. Got forward well and allowed the team to press and defend together.
Got forward into some great crossing positions only for his final ball to be poor. Decent performance all round against one of the leagues best teams. (Gary Plaza)

MATTY CASH! YOU BEAUTY!! What a goal and the catalyst for a electric 9 minutes that lit up Villa Park!
A superb strike – oh, on his weaker foot – superb assist from Douglas Luiz in the build-up!
